Saikhom Mirabai Chanu, a professional weightlifter comes from a small town in Manipur named Nongpok Kakching. She was born to Saikhom Ongbi Tombi Leima and her father Saikhom Kriti Meitei on 8 August 1994,despite coming from a background with inadequate facilities and privileges but she did not let this stop her. She got lots of love from people after winning a silver medal in the Tokyo Olympics 2021 in weightlifting . Besides this, she has many achievements. Chanu won the silver medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, Glasgow. Her biggest achievement was in 2017 when she won the gold medal at the World Weightlifting Championship, California. Mirabai Chanu is a real inspiration for everyone who thinks being underprivileged means you can’t be successful.
