Descriptive Writing

                                            An Astonishing Surprise

‘ Keep a diary and one it’ll keep you’- May West.

My Diary is very close to me. My best friend gave it to me on my birthday .Looking at the cute owl face, always winking at me makes me as  cheerful as the birds. It has a very pretty sequin design on the cover and is as cute as a button. My diary has a beautiful silver heart at the bottom.  This diary is very close to me because it has a very pleasant story attached to it. My best friend had fractured her leg about 15 days before my birthday and  I knew she couldn’t come to the party. So, on my birthday, I wasn’t really myself. When we were about to cut the cake, the doorbell rang and, to my  astonishment, it was her. I was as happy as a punch to see her. She gave me this diary as a gift and I have always kept it close to my heart.

The Time Machine

I was sitting in my office giving the final touches to my dream project. I had been working on it for years and now finally it was ready. I had done it; I had created a time machine. I was on top of the world.

Oh sorry I forgot to introduce myself I am Dr. Lavender Allen, I am an inventor. I had a dream to time travel since I was a child and finally I had done it. The time machine looked like an ordinary large golden ball from outside. But the magic happened when a person went inside; there were gears and buttons everywhere, everything glittering in  gold.

I sat inside and I had an urge from within to turn on the machine and travel in it. I pulled the lever pressed a button or two set the time for future and then wore my seat belt, I pulled the green lever and suddenly there was a strange feeling inside my body. Instead my office I could see pitch black sky with small white dots from the small windows I had fit in the machine. I was finally time travelling. It felt like my kidneys, my intestine and my liver were floating around in my body. According to my calculations it would have taken me about fifteen minutes to reach the time I had set .But it had already about been 30 minutes and the machine had still not stopped. Had the machine malfunctioned? It could have because I had forgotten to check for faults because of my excitement.  I was very tensed because I only had fuel enough for 2 hours of travel after that I would be lost in space forever. A peculiar kind of smell was coming from the machine and then there was a shrill sound from the engine.

I was just figuring out what to do when all of a sudden the machine hit the ground and I fainted on my chair. When I woke up I was feeling very weak and all the fuel in the machine had finished. I opened my seatbelt but I didn't even have the strength to get up and open the doors of the time machine, it was like somebody had extracted all the energy from me. I struggled to step outside but as soon as I did I started feeling energetic again it was like the air of this place had given me my energy back. I got out of the machine and saw a large tree beside the place where my machine had crashed, its trunk was gold in colour and its leaves were lavender .It looked splendid ,the sky was pink in colour. It was very soothing to look at. In front of me there was a patch of lush green grass waving in the air. It was as perfect as a picture I was admiring  all the beauty  around me when a thought struck me -was i dead. It was a likely possibility.

Suddenly I heard footsteps behind me .I turned around to see a sweet girl with long hair, she looked about 17. She said "Hi I'm Emily ,are you new here?” I replied yes I just crash landed here. She asked me what I meant by just crash landed here . So I had to explain the entire story to her. I asked her where I was and what the date today here was. She replied it is 3rd April 4031 and I was in Australia. I was shocked I was in the 41rst century and in Australia. I had really time travelled, I had made history! I started jumping on the spot.

When me and Emily started taking it was like we were best friends, not two strangers who just met. I told her I wanted to explore while I was still there. She pressed a button on her bracelet and we were in front of a small cottage. Humans had figured out how to teleport by then ! She said this is my home ? I replied "This is beautiful it looks like it belongs to a forest fairy, does anybody else live with you." She said "No I live alone" I asked her if she could help me fix my machine because I had to get back to my time .She said "Yes sure I'd love to. Let's go then?" She pressed a button on her bracelet lo and behold were there but my machine wasn't, it was gone. I got really tensed, how I would get back home. Emily said "I know where it could be; she pressed a button on her bracelet again and we were in dark room now." This is the place where things without owners are kept, kind of a lost and found, I think the guards must kept it here." Suddenly all the lights turned on, the room was completely white and different things were kept beside the walls of the room some were big, some  were small and then I saw my machine it was as good as new, it was kept on a high platform and some people surrounding it. "These are the guards I was talking" said Emily.

We'll have to ask them to take back your machine. It was easy to convince the guards because it looked like they were in a hurry to go somewhere but it was hard to take the machine outside as it was really heavy and the guards, didn't help .Once we were outside we pulled the machine to an open ground. I sat in the machine wore my seat belt and as soon as I turned to say goodbye to Emily she had vanished. As I was getting out of machine to see where she went there was a blue light all around me and when I opened my eyes I was back in my office. I was astonished and confused how I came back into my office without even starting the machine and without fuel .Suddenly there was a knock on the door ,I went to open it when I saw my wall clock it was 6pm and I remembered that I travelled on 5:45. There was a knock again and I snapped out of my thoughts as I opened the door and there was a girl on the door she was wearing rain coat even though it wasn't raining. I invited her inside, she took off her hat and it was Emily.

What is a mandala and How to draw it

Hello everyone today I going to write a blog on how to draw a mandala. Now many of you reading this blog might not even know what a mandala is.

So what is a Mandala?

"Mandala" is a Sanskrit word that means circle. It is a spiritual and ritual symbol representing the universe .The circular designs symbolize the idea that life is never ending and everything is connected.
Now this might be sounding like a very complex drawing but it is quite easy.
In India rangolis and mehndi designs are also forms of Mandalas.
You don't be conscious while drawing a Mandala, just start drawing
Materials to draw a mandala:

  • pencil
  • black/colored markers or pens
  • compass
  • a sheet of paper

Basic steps to draw a mandala
First find the centre of the paper and start drawing circles of any radius. Just like this:

When your satisfied with your circles divide them into as many parts you want.
Then comes the fun part start drawing with any shapes you want you can try these shapes

My experience drawing a mandala

It was really fun and interesting and a interesting thing  to do during the lockdown you don't have to be perfect, I made lots of mistakes when I started .
